Atrophicus Lichen Sclerosis




Atrophicus lichen sclerosis is easily confused with vulvar vestibulitis and HPV. Patients register itching in the genital area prior to the appearance of lesions on the vagina (or penis) and anus. There appear plaques that damage the skin and often result in skin splitting. Steroids treatment is prescribed to diminish pain. In severe cases, the condition may lead to cancer. Atrophicus lichen sclerosis is easily confused with vulvar vestibulitis and HPV.

This is not an infection and cannot be transmitted to other people. Though the exact origin of the condition is not known, it may be due to genetic predisposition. The disease is called so after a similar in appearance mixture of algae and fungi and is more common in women with no relevance to age. Atrophicus lichen sclerosis is easily confused with vulvar vestibulitis and HPV.
